4 Ugandan police officers risk termination; for detaining a bride at a wedding reception

A Ugandan policeman is currently being held on suspicion of being unprofessional and showing poor judgment after detaining a bride during her wedding reception.
According to a police statement, three other people with whom he acted are currently missing. The arrest was “reprehensible and based on bad judgment,” according to the statement.
According to the statement from police spokesman Fred Enanga, “what was supposed to be the happiest day of her life ended in a nightmare.”
According to local media reports, the unidentified bride was detained overnight at a police station in the western Ugandan town of Mbarara after being taken into custody on Saturday night. The woman was freed on Sunday.
If found guilty, all four police officers risk being fired from their positions.
The complainant who led to the bride’s detention for allegedly receiving money inappropriately was her former employee.
Police are also looking into a situation where the complainant and the cops may have colluded.
