He served as Minister of Internal Affairs in Prime Minister Bidzina Ivanishvili’s government from 2012 to 2013. Garibashvili was chosen as Ivanishvili’s successor when he stood down willingly as Prime Minister in November 2013.
Irakli Garibashvili, the world’s youngest prime minister, broke the jinx when he was elected to the position for the first time at the age of 31. He was the next in line after Kim Jong-un, he was the world’s second-youngest state leader.
