After a gang forced a teacher to kneel and plead for beating kids, Anyinasin School was closed.
The Ghana Education Service has shut down the Akyem Anyinasin Methodist Junior High School in Abuakwa North Municipality in the Eastern region after a community gang compelled a male teacher to kneel and accept responsibility for disciplining several children.
On Monday, July 24, 2022, the teacher reportedly disciplined some students for misbehavior.
As the teacher was walking home one evening, a group of town residents attacked him. They forced him to kneel and apologize to the students. They continued to threaten the school’s other teachers.
On Thursday, July 28, 2022, Miss Abena Gyamerah, the director of education for the Abuakwa North Municipality, went to the school to meet the instructors. Later, she also met with local authorities to offer her assistance in the hunt for the criminals. However, due to teacher worries about insecurity, the municipal director of education ordered the temporary closure of the school.
She spoke to Starr News. When the children misbehaved, the teachers attempted to discipline them, but when they went to tell the locals, it was they who threatened the teachers. I thus ordered that school be dismissed today so that we could discuss the situation. The director of education stated that an investigation is still ongoing.

The fully equipped, contemporary classroom building with ICT for Anyinasin Methodist JHS has opened in May of this year thanks solely to Dr. Samuel Owusu, a former student.
