John Mahama- I Deported 5000 Illegal Chinese Miners

According to former president John Dramani Mahama, his administration, like the current one, had to deal with the illicit mining practice known as “galamsey,” but he handled it differently.
He said that while in office, he deported about 5,000 Chinese citizens who were engaged in illicit mining without endangering Ghana’s relations with China.
The former president added that in order to assist repatriation, the administration at the time partnered with the Chinese government.
Mr. Mahama continued by saying that any Chinese national who violates Ghanaian law should be subjected to the full force of the law, just like a Ghanaian who defies the law abroad.
