Meet Patience Masua: The 23-year-old Namibian Parliamentarian

Patience Masua is a Namibian politician and lawyer who was born on January 7, 1999. She was appointed by President Hage Geingob as a Member of Parliament in the National Assembly in April 2021, making her Namibia’s youngest Member of Parliament.
She formerly served as Secretary-General of the Namibia National Students Organization and as a student parliamentary speaker in the UNAM SRC.
Early life
Masua was born in Gobabis, Omaheke, in 1999, and relocated to Windhoek with her family shortly after. Kleine Professor College was her pre- and elementary school.
She finished primary education at Suiderhof Primary School and went on to Delta Secondary School in Windhoek, where she was a member of the Learners Representative Council as Deputy Head Girl.
Student politics and activism
Patience became involved in mainstream student politics and activism throughout her time at university, primarily through her newspaper opinion pieces and later as a Faculty Representative for the University Of Namibia Faculty Of Law in the student union.
She later ran for and won the office of UNAM SRC Speaker of Student Parliament in 2019. She went on to work as the Secretary-General of the Namibia National Students Organisation after that (NANSO).
